Millie Fleur is always on a mission in Garden Glen, this time her mission is to show the townspeople how beautiful and welcoming the dark can be.
While everyone else in Garden Glen lights up their homes at night, Millie embraces the magic of moonlight, night gardens, and mysterious creatures.
Millie Fleur Saves the Night reminds me of the Netflix movie 'Orion and he Dark, as in this story, the dark is personified; she is talked to, shown around, coaxed out of hiding. Unlike Orion's story, Millie, however, is NOT afraid of the dark.
Not only does Millie teach readers that the dark isn't scary, but that light pollution hides, or destroys, the beauty of the night. Millie shows her neighbors the different insects, flowers, and wild life that NEED the dark to thrive, not to mention the stars in the sky.
I adore Millie Fleur. I love how sweet and dark she is. She's simply herself, even if its different. This is a perfect and a consistent message for readers of all ages.
The pictures are enchanting and filled with little creatures and plants that will delight your imagination. The color pallete is dark and glowing, show casing how beautiful the night really is.
This story will help kids learn that different isn’t bad, but also that the dark doesn’t have to be scary and is in fact needed.
