I didn't know what I was expecting from this book, but it exceeded all expectations.
River is the most adorable little girl who only wants to go to the zoo. She's able to get there for an all-night party with the animals and party they shall. Sitting down with my niece to put her down for a nap with this book was probably a mistake because all she wanted was for me to read it again and again. Then when she woke up, she insisted on carrying it around to show the pictures to anyone who would look.
The pictures are emotive and cute. The words flow of your tongue, making it much more pleasant to read the same book a million times. It's poetic and simple. The rhymes never once lean toward the cheesy side. There isn't a single thing not to like about this story or the way it's presented.
