SO YOU WANT TO BE A FROG is a cute picture book that invites children to learn about and try to be a frog. With an interactive writing style, the story tells children the "rules" of being a frog, and what they will need to do to join the club. In the process, readers get to learn about how frogs grow, their colors, what they eat (and who eats them), and the sounds they make.

What I loved: This has such a fun writing style that really pulls young readers in. The voice of the frog speaking to the readers includes actions they can do with reactions to it making it quite interactive when read aloud. Children are invited to try to jump as far as they can, spread their arms like a flying frog, make a loud croak, and more. Along the way, there are plenty of general frog facts, as well as fun information about different frog species. Whether or not a child was into frogs before starting the book, they will have fun getting into the frog life and might even pick which frog they would want to be by the end.

The font is clear and easy to read, and the style very much lends itself to being read aloud. The bright colors and fun illustrations go along with the text perfectly, and the different species of frogs shown are really cool to consider. Even grownups may learn some new frog facts, such as how long they have been around (way longer than humans!) and fun facts about different types of frog species. There is so much information here, provided in a way that is easy to process.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, this book would have a lot of appeal for preschoolers, but it is a bit lengthy. Older picture book readers may not get into the content as much, but the length seems better for them. For sensitive readers, it does speak to poisonous frogs, what frogs eat (only things that are alive), and what eats frogs.

Final verdict: SO YOU WANT TO BE A FROG is a cute and interactive picture book that provides lots of easily digestible information about frogs, great for animal enthusiasts.
