THE GREAT BIG CHRISTMAS TREE HUNT is a fun lift-the-flap adventure. The animals are searching around the house for ornaments, and children can help by lifting the flaps of items around different rooms of the house to uncover what might be behind. Children also uncover a new animal that joins the search on the next page.

What I loved: For children who love lift-the-flap, this one will be a delight! There are so many flaps to lift on each page spread as they search around different rooms of the house and outdoors. Through these searches, children can explore some of the typical things one might find in such a room and also locate a lovely ornament behind a flap on each spread. The building animals searching was also very fun, and the characters are carried throughout the story. Each flap has some small phrase or sentence, which makes it quite interactive.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the flaps are very easy to tear off for rougher readers. Many are small and not very strong, about cardstock thickness. Additionally, some of the text can be tough to read, as it is printed in black over darker colors. This is particularly noticeable in low light settings such as bedtime.
