THE THREE LITTLE SUPERPIGS: ONCE UPON A TIME is an adorable and fun retelling of the classic story of the three little pigs. These pigs loved superheroes and had so much superhero stuff that their mother sent them out on their own to get their own houses. They head to Fairyland and build their houses- two build fast so they can get back to playing and one builds slower and stronger with brick while the other two play. Soon, the big, bad wolf comes huffing and puffing at their houses.
This twist on the original study follows it somewhat closely but with some added fun elements of being superheroes and about Fairyland (the wolf has a reputation). In the end, everyone cheers for the three little Superpigs!
What I loved: The images leap off the page with an almost three-dimensional element. There is a lot to look at and find in each scene with the wolf lurking and other fairytale characters (particularly Little Red Riding Hood) around. The pigs in superhero costumes are also adorable. Young children will enjoy the fast pace of the story and brightly and vibrantly colored images that fill each page. The story is a classic and a fun one to read in this new book.
Final verdict: This charming story adds some fun details on to the classic tale of the three little pigs. These Superpigs are sure to delight toddlers through early elementary readers who will love the vivid illustrations and fun plotline.
