We Are Free You & Me is a poetic affirmation of all our rights to exist. Through vibrantly colored illustrations of a family going through their community together, you can sense the joy and uplifting spirit in which the book was written. The words are poetic in style and seek to reaffirm all our basic human rights. There is one illustration that is a bit ironic given that the words are about how all are free to find joy that will stay and it features balloons, bubbles, and sidewalk chalk but the rest of the illustrations match the words and are lovely pairings. Overall, this book gives a sense of hope while affirming our right to exist and find joy.
