In We Can Play Anything, two young children let their imaginations run wild as they think about all the things they can play. Are they going to sleep in an animal hotel, bake animal cookies, hang out with a story snake, or what else? With each other, they can play anything and everything.

What I Liked: We Can Play Anything does a great job of highlighting the importance of play for young children and the various things that they learn while playing. In each scene that the children imagine, you can see how their minds work and how something simple can be turned larger just with a little imagination. The book also showcases how creativity plays a large role in play and how important it is to encourage children to be creative in their play.

The illustrations throughout this book are creative and go well with the text in the book. The illustrations appear as chalk drawings, which adds more to the illusion that the events in the story are taking place in the children’s imagination.

Final Verdict: We Can Play Anything is a simple picture book that celebrates imagination and the importance of play. Children ages 3 and up will enjoy seeing the various play scenarios that are introduced throughout this book. They might even be able to take some of those ideas and use them the next time they are playing with friends.
