“Welcome to Camp Snoopy” by Charles M. Schulz, adapted by Jason Cooper from the show, Camp Snoopy, engages readers by taking them on a trip through the world of camping, from how to prepare for it, to dealing with homesickness, taking part in activities like arts and crafts, singing, pizza day, writing letters home, making friends, and so much more. The characters from Schultz’s Peanuts cartoons are shown throughout the book in illustrations that showcase them participating in camp life.

Questions are asked throughout about what readers would bring to camp, what scary stories they would tell, and there are also thoughtful asides, about how to be a good camper and friend. For example, thinking of others is easy to do, and terrifically kind, as well as figuring out who you want to share a pizza with, because that’s even more important than how the pizza is made.

The book will make readers feel as though they are in the thick of it with the Peanuts characters, as the gang earns badges, writes letters, hugs their friends, and has an all-around good time learning the ins and outs of Camp Snoopy.
