This board book features lovely photos alongside short phrases that describe winter in the park. While very brief and with almost entirely two word sentences, this book is great for the youngest audiences as it simply presents the fun of snow in winter. The illustrations are the strongest part of this book, as they are lovely with winter-themed colors.

What I loved: The illustrations are very pretty and simple enough for the youngest readers to identify animals (puppy, bunny) and children. The simple text is great for babies and young toddlers who have shorter attention spans and want to flip pages quickly. The two correspond very well, making it easy to point to the illustrations as you read the two-word sentences. There is also good diversity amongst the children who play in the snow.

What left me wanting more: The “babies” depicted actually appear to be older children, as they run and glide in the park. This was fine, but it seemed out of place between the words and text (which state babies but babies are not shown).

Final verdict: Overall, this is fun and quick board book which shows the joys of playing in the snow. Babies and young toddlers will enjoy the colorful and simple images plus the quick speed of page-turning.
