Your Island is written with a basic and calming tone, perfect for a nighttime routine.
Readers are brought directly into the story. Beginning with a sun, the book introduces each part and explains where it goes, creating once again that comforting intimacy.
A sun, a palm tree, plants, a tent, a magic fire, and a bird all have Klassen’s signature oval eyes, which get sleepy as the light fades until all are asleep. The illustrations are simple and eye catching, a bit creepy still, yet my child loves them.
Your Island is a simple and whimsical book. The short length and easy content is perfect for young readers!
